As a graduate of two correspondence courses offered by the Institute of Children's Literature, I can honestly say that I wish I had seen the book by Victoria Hanley, Wild Ink, before I signed for my first course. It would saved me from learning a lot of relevant material, and it would certainly have saved me a few dollars.
Victoria's book covers everything that inspires the writer of fiction young adult needs to know to find your writing to get the battery life of your manuscript published.
If you have the discipline and dedication to pursue a writing career of your own then this book is for you. Commitment to be a good writer is certainly necessary, if you take the expensive route, as I did, or take advantage of the valuable information contained in this book.

Wild Review of Wild Ink
Anything with “wild” in the title and I’m so there! Besides, what’s not to love about a book dedicated to me (the reader) and my success?
Finally, a book written specifically to YA. Hanley is an accomplished master, and the tone, it strikes with this book is informative, interesting and invigorating. His gaze on writing young adult books, the review process and the publication process are excellent. It is a great book to get you started on the path to publishing, as well as a user-friendly to use as a companion while you're writing. In addition to the view of Victoria, there are also many interviews and excerpts from published authors YA (see for me – I'm there!). When I'm stuck writing, I often browse through this book and the encouraging words of Victoria, the author or authors it has collected, guide me along.
In his most recent book, Wild Ink: How to Write Fiction for Young Adults, best-selling author Victoria Hanley provides valuable information with writers about the craft. Although the title suggests, is for those who write for young adults, I think the technical knowledge and resources in Victoria provides the book could apply to any writer of fiction.
The first part of the book deals with various aspects of the art of writing as the search for your self writing, resources for writers to submit your manuscript. My article in this part of the book is to overcome the obstacles of your section. Victoria, not only identifies the obstacles, but it provides advice on how to get past them.
The second half of the book has interviews with various people in the publishing industry. What I found unique about the interviews was that they included a sample of all facets of the industry. There was traditionally published authors, self-published authors who had not yet been published but they have been seeking representation. We also hear agents and editors and get their views.
Wild Ink is an excellent addition to the press Cottonwood catalog and is a must have for any writer of fiction.
